[Professionalism is not his strong suit, but Nate does his damnedest to scribe a boiler plate write-up that reads like something he might have issued from his office at the marine salvage company, as opposed to his usual informality.]
I'm heading up an expedition to the foothills of the mountain range in the next few days and looking for people with experience in excavation, long-term exploration, combat, and magic. I'm reaching out to you because I know you're proficient in at least one of these things, if not more, and I'm going to need all the help I can get.
It's a week out to the mountain range, maybe longer, and when we get there the intent is to locate and gain access to a bunker. With any luck we can learn something about this world we didn’t know before, and use it to our advantage.
This trip will be at least two weeks long. The weather is turning, snow is getting thick, and the temperatures will consistently be somewhere around freezing. Parts of this will suck. If you're interested, I need to know what you specifically can bring to the table in terms of survival and resources. Everyone's going to have to pitch in for shelter, food, and keeping watch, because we don't know what's out there.
Let me know as soon as you can. We leave at the first of the month.
[ Wash is good at sounding professional when he wants to, but he tends to curb that here because people don't respond well to it. When he reads Nate's message he blinks, then grins to himself because he wouldn't have expected the other man to speak this way. He was clearly trying to sound like he's got his shit together -- and hopefully actually does -- which is something Wash can appreciate. ]
I'm in.
I've got a decade of combat experience and some with excavation from the time we were shipwrecked on an outer planet. I wouldn't say I've done long term exploration exactly but I've got done plenty of scouting missions and have survival training if things get hairy. I could hunt if necessary. The cold isn't an issue because my armor is climate controlled, and I can contribute some MREs for provisions and take watch shifts. Heat and motion tracking should help with that. I don't know for sure what I have around to pitch in for shelter besides blankets and tarps but I can look.
My magic's not impressive but my girlfriend's is amazing, if you're up for one more with combat and breaking shit open experience. How many people are coming along so far?
[Nate knows it looks a lot more professional than his usual. He's trying to be responsible about this, particularly since his last jaunt into exploration ended in a gunfight on a boat in the middle of a tropical storm.]
tarps for tents would be good, there isn't shelter out there for miles and the wind is going to fuck with us the whole way there
i don't know many magic users in hadriel but if your girlfriend is kyna then i already invited her
Then I'll pull them out. I haven't built my own shelters like that since basic but I remember how.
She is -- must not have seen it yet I guess. Sounds good to me.
[ He'll find out who else is coming when it happens, he figures... it sounds like Nate's got this thought out, Wash isn't going to micromanage putting together an adequate squad. ]
Let me know when there's a head count and I'll see what else we can spare.
[Nate gets back to Wash slightly later, having heard from other party members in the affirmative.]
just in case bring ropes, anything that can be turned into a piton. i don't know if we'll need to climb anything but it's always good to have around just in case
